Jana Bent Interview with Flair
Magazine"
FLAIR INTERVIEW: January 6
2003
Q: How was 2002 for you?
A: It was like a roller coaster ride, very exciting. I
will remember it for
the rest of my life as the biggest milestone in my
musical career as a solo
artist.
Q: What makes you most
apprehensive about 2003?
A: The threat of continued violence. I prayed for peace
for Jamaica.
Violence has the potential to destroy the confidence of
our society. We are
unable to retain our young people who are fleeing the
country (for safer
surroundings) because of the threat of violence. The
senseless murders and reprisal killings are petty ways
to resolve conflicts. In such a short time the value of
someone's life can be reduced to nothing.
Q: What makes you most
optimistic about Jamaica going into the New Year?
A: The talent of Jamaicans which has managed to put us
on the international stage giving us a certain level of
marketability. As Jamaicans we've managed to excel in
many areas from music, to the literary arts, the
culinary arts, athletics. We have an innate ability to
succeed and if we can make our talent work for us
financially we'll be able to pull ourselves out of the
darkness that holds us back.
Q: What plans to do you
have for your career in 2003?
A: More collaborations with top artists and producers. I
am also hoping to
score an international distributor and marketing deal. I
want to make more
music videos and get the chance to perform on an
international tour this year.
Q: What are your personal
goals for the New Year?
A: All my attention has be focused on my career( for the
most part) so I ant to start looking at other aspects of
my life. I want to pursue my
other interests and make time for my personal
relationships as well.
