Rupert Bent
is a Grammy nominated musician, songwriter, producer and
engineer. GYPSY MUSIC, owned and operated by Rupert
“Gypsy” Bent, has been offering artistes and audiences
consistently top quality production and an alternative
to the traditional Jamaican music genres since 1991.
ON QUE PRODUCTIONS is a video and audio production
company in Kingston, Jamaica, owned and operated by
Rupert Bent (Technical Director) and Ian Gibson
(Managing Director). On Que Productions has the
Caribbean's only 48-track mobile digital recording
studio, with live digital recording credits including
the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, Reggae Sumfest,
the French production “Think Reggae”.
After having toured, performed, produced, engineered,
and written for countless artistes worldwide, Bent
designed and personally built the Gypsy Music Recording
Studio - a state of the art Nuendo 3 production facility
capable of 5.1 audio post production and post sync for
music, video and film. Post-production work for video
and audio projects is done in the Gypsy Music Recording
studio - a fully equipped MIDI, and Digital Audio
production facility, where Bent also creates and
produces music for recording artistes, as well as, radio
and television jingles and documentary soundtracks. Bent
is also the Bass Guitarist for international recording
Artiste,
Sean
Paul.
Additional Producing & Songwriting

Co-Wrote and Produced the song “Time Goes On” on the
re-release of Sean Paul’s 2006 Album, ‘The Trinity’.

Co-wrote and Co-Produced the Polygram-Mercury hit song
"Forbidden Love" performed by Third World on the
'Serious Business' album.

Co-Produced, Co-Wrote, Performed and Co-Engineered on
the Grammy nominated Third World album, 'Generation
Coming'.

Worked alongside Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare in
production and recording of East-West (France) Records
Artiste, Viktor Lazlo, at the Compass Point Studio in
Nassau, Bahamas.

Co-wrote, Produced, Engineered and released under the
Gypsy Music label, the hit singles, "You So Fine"
(2001), by Jana Bent, “No Regrets” by Jana Bent and
Bounty Killer, as well as Jana’s debut album, 'Chase The
Sun', which was named Album of the Year for 1999 by the
Observer Newspaper, and her second album, “Shadow Girl”,
which is currently being distributed in Europe and has
earned her a International Publishing Administration
deal.

Scored the major Musical Theatre Production "Arawak
Gold".

Co-wrote the song "Beautiful Friday" for Capitol
Records' singer, Andru Donalds.

Steel" and "Spare Me The Blues"; Jimmy Cliff: "Rebel in
Me"; Gregory Isaacs: "Rumours"; Burning Spear; Toots
Hibbert; J.C. Lodge; Thriller U; Mile High; The Itals;
Junior Tucker; Lovindeer; Mystic Revealers; Richie
Stephens; Thriller U; Sabre; Prezident Brown and many
others.
Performing Experience

Touring with International Recording Artiste Sean Paul
playing Bass Guitar, since December 2003

Toured with Third World from 1997-2001, playing lead
and rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion and singing
backing vocals. Also toured with this band between
February 1989 and November 1990.

Performed with Santana, Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Cliff,
Black Uhuru, Toots Hibbert, Judy Mowatt, Tiger, J.C.
Lodge, Richie Stephens, Della Manley, and countless
others.

Toured Reggae Sunsplash 1993 (N. America) with Freddie
McGregor, Marcia Griffiths and Mystic Revealers; North
America with Dennis Brown; the Caribbean with Marcia
Griffiths; Japan with Julian Marley and the Uprising
Band, as multi-instrumentalist and backing vocalist.

Performed on several shows with the artistes on his
label, Gypsy Music.

Performed as multi-instrumentalist and backing
vocalist on every Reggae Sunsplash (Jamaica) between the
years 1986-1992 inclusive and Reggae Sumfest 1992, '97,
'99-2000. Has toured Europe, U.S.A. (1987) with the
Mighty Diamonds playing keyboards.

Toured the Caribbean and U.S.A. (1988) with his own
band 'Frenz', performing on guitar, keyboards and
backing vocals, backing artistes including Shabba Ranks,
Lt. Stitchie; Admiral Bailey; Cocoa Tea; Lovindeer;
Pinchers; Jack Radics; Sanchez; and Ken Boothe. Toured
Europe in 1990 with Junior Tucker playing guitar,
keyboards and backing vocals.
